Software analytics firm MicroStrategy has announced that it has further enhanced its Bitcoin holdings after purchasing an additional 16,130 Bitcoins for approximately $593.3 million. The recent move by the firm, which many see as a very good strategic move, has elevated the firm’s total Bitcoin holdings to 174,530 BTC., which means that the firm has increased its Bitcoin portfolio by 10%.
MicroStrategy has been known to be one of the biggest accumulators of Bitcoin. The firm has been accumulating Bitcoin since August 2020, which shows that it is embracing Bitcoin as its primary reserve asset. As of November 29, the company’s Bitcoin holdings held an approximate value of $6.6 billion. The latest acquisition raises their average purchase price to $30,252 across their entire Bitcoin portfolio.
To further fuel its Bitcoin investment strategy, it has initiated a $750 million Class A common stock offering, collaborating with financial services firm Cowen and Company. This move aligns with CEO Phong Le’s previously stated intention to continue pursuing regular Bitcoin acquisitions.
The announcement of the stock offering and the Bitcoin purchase coincided with a slight early trading setback for the company’s shares, where it experienced a decline of 0.82%. However, the company has previously recorded a substantial profit of $900 million on their Bitcoin holdings when the cryptocurrency’s price surged past the critical $30,000 threshold.
